Name: Coraline Familiar's Name: Peetey Desired Familiar: European Red Squirrel. Brownish red fur with long tuffs coming from the ears. Large bushy tail. He will be able to speak a few words(Though his speech is not very good and his voice is very high pitched and irritating). He can also speak to Coraline through telepathy. He will be another voice in her head. He is chattery, annoying, just like everyone imagines squirrels to be. But over time he will become something dear to Coraline's heart. He will be the one creature that is always there for her. He will love her no matter what. He will provide her with the warmth of love that she has not received from anyone since her travel to Aeon. He will give her something she craves, acceptance.

Ancestral creature glanced the mare up and down once, before nodding his head assuredly. "Easy enough, lass." Turning to the iron wrought gates, he fumbled a moment with some keys, before shoving the correct piece in and clicking the gates open. "Best yo opponent mentally, and you shall be bound eternal." Snapping his fingers, a replica of Peetey bounced and bounded in the center of the arena, tumbling about excitedly. With a sweeping hand gesture Herzog ushered the lady in.

Coraline
My Words.
|
My thoughts. My voices.Coraline eyed the ancient creature wearily. She had heard stories of the beast that guarded this particular arena, but she had never truly believed in it. Yet here he stood, old as time. She was slightly entranced by him, but her curiosity of the creature that she would be granted with over rode her entrancement. With a gruff snort the mare passed the old beast, her elegant legs carrying her into the strange arena. Oh how we do love games! But this was not like the normal games that Coraline was used to. She was not in control of this game. No, some unseen force was. And so the mare was not so sure that she could win. Especially because of how the creature told her she would have to win. The mare would have to beat her familiar mentally. But the mind was not the mare’s strong suit. It was the exact opposite. Over the years of her craving the flesh of animals, of her hearing the strange voices that bounced about in her head, the mare had gone quite mad. She never really used her mind, relying on primal instinct most of the time, except for when she was playing her games. Even then the mare used her body more than her mind. She used her beauty to lure in her prey and then her strength to take them down. But this was not how the mare would have to go about this particular game. The voices in her head giggle at Coraline. They knew this would be hard for her, and they reveled in her trouble. As the creature looked around the arena, trying to find the form in the dust her senses pick up the scent of blood. Coraline could feel her pulse quicken, her mouth began to water, her nostrils taking in the sweet scent. It would surely make a sweet snack. At this statement the mare shook her head wildly, ridding her mind of these thoughts. This was not just some normal animal that she could feast upon. This familiar would be something that the mare had not had in quite some time, a friend. Coraline would never admit it to herself but she was lonely. The mare desperately needed a companion. That was what brought her here to the arena, though Coraline would say that it was just her curiosity. As her eyes finally found the bouncing form of the red squirrel a soft bubble of laughter came from her throat. He was awfully cute. Small enough that he would not get in her way when she was hunting. In short this small beast was perfect for her. But how in the world would the mare get to have him? What did that strange creature mean by best him mentally anyway? The squirrel was not asking her riddles, not giving her something to figure out. Maybe he meant to be kind to him, to make this tiny creature like her. But that would be hard to do. What kind of animal would like Coraline? She was a murderous beast. Surely the scent of her previous kills still hung on her skin, on her breath. But, there was no trouble in trying. So the mare wracked her brain for what she could do. How she could lure this thing to her. Coraline took slow, careful steps closer to the tiny thing. Trying not to spook him away from her. Her masked face reached out slowly to the area where the miniature beast was bouncing. Once more she thought. He was new here, the gate keeper bringing him into this world just for the mare. Coraline knew the feeling of being new to a strange world. She felt it when she was brought into Aeon through the portal. She was lost, with a strange new curse placed upon her. With no one to help her. But that would not be the way this tiny thing felt, no. Coraline could be here for him. The mare’s lips gently lifted, though not high enough to show the sharp teeth that hung just inside her mouth. “Hello.” Her words were soft and sweet, a large change to the normally dark tone that would flit about her lyrics. Her head nods slightly as she spoke. “I understand that you are new to this world. I know how that feels. Lost and alone. But you are not alone. I am here.” These words were the most sincere ones that Coraline had spoken in some time. Her ears prick forward, listening carefully. Waiting to see how her words would affect this beast. Hopefully he would see how sincere she was and chose to move closer, to trust her. But it was quite possible that he high tailed it away from the mare, just like everyone else. ~Gorgeous Nightmare~ [/blockquote]

The red squirrel glanced up at the horse. Its nose twitched back and forth, beady eyes just staring at her. With a chirp, the squirrel flicked its tail before bounding further away from the mare. After putting distance between them, the squirrel glanced back, watching the mare.

Coraline
My Words.

My thoughts. My voices.Icy eyes watch silently as the small creature looked up at her. Gotcha. But Coraline was not so sure, these things were never that easy. Surely it would take much more than just that. The thing stared at her for what seemed like hours but finally it changed. A small chirp slipped from its lips, then with quick movements the tiny beast skittered off. He put some space between them and then stopped, once more turning to look at Coraline. The mare tipped her head slightly. Had she said something wrong? Could he even understand her? She could have possibly just scared him away. But then wouldn't he have just skittered off forever and not have even turned back? Coraline had experienced that many times. Maybe, just maybe he wasn't scared of her. This was all just a game, so maybe he was testing her. Testing to see if she would give up, get angry. But she would do neither of those things. The mare took a deep breath in, settling her emotions. Head tilts even more to the side, ears flicking back and forth rapidly trying to decide what to do here. "Do you want to play?" Maybe that was what he was doing. Trying to entice her into playing. Small rodents tended to like to play around wildly, right? Hopefully she was correct. So the mare allowed her nimble legs to prance in place, creating a sort of small dance, careful to make her movements soft enough that they would not rumble the ground where the creature sat. The mare's head twisted about her form gracefully, flicking her mane gently around her form, her horn falling and lifting along with her head. A small nicker called for the tiny creature to join her in the small dance that she had created. A heavy breath breathed out a small cloud of frosty air, creating slight sparkles of ice. It was not much. Oh no, Coraline had not grown very strong in her magic, but it was still interesting to look at. If the small rodent decided to join with her, well, the two could grow in her power together. Eyes slowly fall back down to the tiny beast, head once more tilting. Hopefully he would join her. Coraline could picture all of the wild dances that the two could have, out into the real world. A deep longing entered the mare, but she continued her small dance. The mare did not move from her spot, choosing to just dance in place, hopeful not to scare the creature farther away from herself. Surely he would want to play, want to dance. "Well come on. It's your turn." A sincere laughter flowed from her lips as she continued on the small show that she was giving to the tiny creature. ~Gorgeous Nightmare~ [/blockquote]

The rodent stared at the mare as she danced, curious about her actions. Before long, the squirrel let out a string of chatters, almost resembling a laugh at her expense. He dashed off to the left, bounding in a wide circle around the mare.

Coraline
My Words. My voices.
~No wealth, no ruin, no silver, no gold Nothing satisfies me but your soul~

Coraline watched uneasily as the rodent stared at her. Hope rose in her mind for a moment. Perhaps he would join her in the dance, and she would win. She would acquire a friend. But the squirrel soon shot that idea down. He unleased a line of chattering sounds, ones that made it seem as if he was laughing at the mare's efforts. Just eat him. He has disrespected you. It will be easy. The idea was tempting. It would be much easier than this 'becoming friends idea'. She had never allowed any creature to jeer at her. Any who dared would fall victim between her fangs. But she couldn't do that. She didn't want to wander the world alone, with only these horrid voices for company. The mare sighed deeply as the creature began to circle her. Her head lowered slightly. Ice eyes following his every movement. "Now come on little one. At least I'm trying. You could do the same." Coraline's voice was velveteen in nature, sweet, and almost reached a begging tone. Though she would never stoop to that level. The mare continued to watch the tiny creature. Wracking her mind for some kind of idea, something that would make this tiny creature wish to befriend her. He was a squirrel. And they liked to climb, right? With fluid grace the tall creature buckled her legs under herself, coming to a comfortable lying position. The creature resembled the innocent unicorn that was painted into so many pictures, though that was far from what she was. Once she was settled the mare sent out a light nicker, calling the squirrel sweetly. "My dear, you do like climbing don't you? Why don't you come climb on my back, you could try to scale up my horn. Now wouldn't that be fun?" The mare smiled to herself imagining how much her life would improve with this tiny beast. He would make her treks across the land so much more enjoyable. "If you choose to befriend me, little one, I promise you that we will go on hundreds of adventures. You could climb upon my back and I will take you to see every land that Aeon has to offer. Everyone will know us, have our names in their brains. We could keep each other company, keep each other happy." The smile never faltered from her lips as she spoke. Coraline could have a companion, a partner in crime. If only he accepted her small offer. ~Well I am Death, none can excel, I'll open the door to heaven or hell.~ [/blockquote]
