He had lost his mind. Why was he here? Stride was heavy, hooves leaving divine impressions in the soft sod as he dragged a wolfish exterior over the ground. Sure, it was only a smart thing to introduce himself to the new Loxacin chief. Thalmic took pride in being a very neutral type clan, and therefore Thanatos wished to be sure the indigo mare knew he meant no harm. They did not need to be allies, he just simply wished to have no immediate enemies. It was perfectly fine that he continued to venture deeper into the couloir,in every other equine's eyes. He carried his antlered head high and noble, the pure aura of authority settling upon his shoulders saying all that needed to be said. He was unmistakable, really-- most everyone had at least heard of the mysterious Aeonian shape shifter with intricately painted designs lining his taut muscles and alabaster antlers protruding grotesquely from his ebony forehead. His cloak of brittle, coarse canine fur was misleading. It made him appear thick and brawny, with big bones and tightly woven threads of muscle. In truth, a single touch revealed a very Thoroughbred-y build beneath the lush downy fluff. He was light weight, leggy, and possessed a surprising finesse. He was hard to miss, hard to forget, and certainly you didn't have to have him pointed out to you to mutter to another "that must be Thanatos". No. Everyone understood his reasoning to approach the mare Beautiful Disaster. Hell, Thanatos understood his reasoning. What he didn't understand was bringing her.
Golden eyes shifted to the pure ivory mare trailing along just barely beside him, looking as breakable as a porcelain doll. Surely the stallion didn't give her enough credit. She was strong, resilient, tough. She took everything with a grain of salt and allowed nothing to crawl beneath her skin. She was, in fact, not nearly as fragile at the Thalmic chief played her up to be. But she might as well be, to him. His gaze slid from her angelic face to her barrel. Once fit as a race horse, it was very slowly beginning to fill out, just barely showing signs of the young pregnancy. Call him possessive or protective, he couldn't keep his nerves from fraying. He was in an unfamiliar territory with the one.. ones most precious to him. She claimed to know this Beautiful Disaster, which of course Thanatos did not doubt her words, he simply didn't trust the Loxacin chieftain. Azazel had disappeared off the face of the earth, and one could only assume what happened to the former chief. It was a peculiar thing, his disappearance. It appeared much too planned for the Thalmic stallions taste-- why did the beta stallion not step up to claim the position? Why this strange mare vaguely acquainted with Loxacin? A smile plastered itself upon Thanatos' muzzle as his golden optics took in every inch of her delicate shape, betraying the conflicting uneasiness which thrummed in his veins. This wouldn't be good.
Eyes returned straight ahead of him as they strode deeper into uncharted land, his heart beat quickening with each step. Finally, just steps away from complete cardiac arrest, Thanatos halted, not able to convince furred legs to continue carrying him forward. He shifted closer to Odette, aligning himself as near her as possible. Twisting his neck in an arch to gently and affectionately bump her just barely noticeable tummy, the stallion pulled in a deep breath, ebony ears straining forward to detect the vaguest of noises and determine their sources. "Beautiful Disaster?" His tone was questioning, despite his inner turmoil, and rang out unwavering. Words were strong, nearly demanding though held no threat. Muscles tensed, contracting as he awaited the approach of the chief, ready to leap to Odette's defense did the situation call for it. This was a big, big mistake. He could feel it. But there was no time to turn back now. A rigid sigh caused his flanks to heave, but no relaxation came with the gesture. He couldn't afford to relax today.

Ever since joining Thanatos in Thalmic and their mutual professions of love, she had lived each day as though in a dream, waking up every morning and going to sleep every night with a smile on her lips, fully expecting to wake up at any moment to return to a faraway, long-forgotten reality. But each day the sun rose over the happy couple in Aeon and each day showed no more promise of being a figment of her imagination than the one before, and so she had gradually come to accept that this dream was, in fact, her reality now. The thought was thrilling - almost as thrilling as the prospect of her new child.
» She'd never forget that day, when she finally decided that her sneaking suspicions were very much real, and when she told Thanatos with a smile that she was going to have his child. Their family was shaping up and coming together so quickly, and Odette couldn't have been more overjoyed. Of course, ever since that realization, the big Aeonian stallion had been ridiculously protective, sometimes to the point where Odette had to wonder who was the one actually bearing the foal. She might have been full of nervous first-time mother jitters, but comparatively she felt so calm, sitting there patiently and gently convincing him that she was, and would be, perfectly fine. This was not to say that she didn't enjoy his attentions, however. She basked in his light like a flower in the sunshine, soaking up his warmth and love and blooming more prettily than ever before - in more ways than one, now. Not too long ago the young mare had discovered (not without some alarm) that she was starting to show her baby belly now, her barrel swelling and filling out beyond the point of a healthy, well-fed paunch. This was an exciting discovery, and while she couldn't help but bemoan the disappearance of her slim maidenly figure, the prospect of a new life nestled within her was enough to outweigh the negative consequences.
» Out of the corner of her eye Odette caught Thanatos glancing at her for the umpteenth time, and she did her best to reassure him with a soft whicker. She wasn't quite certain what the big fuss was all about when she'd happily offered to accompany him on his trip to Loxacin to see the new chief. Equine physiology made her perfectly fit to travel just as she always had, and besides, the new Loxacin leader was Beautiful Disaster. Fondly she recalled her memories of that mare, the violet-tinged black pelt and starless dark feathers etched clearly in her recollections. Even more so than that Odette remembered the kindness she'd been shown, the first act of caring and gentility she'd known since her unceremonious exile and consequent betrayal. She owed the older mare her life for helping to stem the infection that might have otherwise claimed her fragile existence, and here was her perfect chance to show Disaster that she was not ungrateful, and had managed to turn her unhappy circumstances into a life of wonder and bliss. Thanatos, on the other hand, had been skeptical at letting her stray into foreign territory, but with some well-chosen cajoling words and a particularly devastating use of the famed puppy eyes, she'd convinced him to let her come along.
» Now if only he would relax a little bit - she could practically feel his tenseness radiating off of him like heat waves. Odette, for her part, was perfectly calm - she stood patiently next to him as he stopped and called out the name of the Chief, and simply scanned her surroundings with wide, inquisitive eyes as she waited.

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
The dried tear streaks were still stained down my cheeks as I returned to my home clan, feeling more broken now than I ever had before. Perhaps I was going through a mid-life crisis of sorts, perhaps I was losing my sanity to believe that I had a past life, to believe that I had found a lover reincarnated...Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Yet it was a feeling that I could not shake. It gnawed at my very core, and I now felt like somehow, I had a connection with Sephiroth that I was determined to bring to light. Indeed, he may think of me as insane now...But I just couldn't give up, I had to make him remember. I just have to try, somehow. The world around me was merely just a blur while I was lost in my thoughts, dazed by the recent turn of events and unable to concentrate.
However, I had not entirely oblivious to the strange silence of Loxacin...To make a fairly quick story even shorter, I was granted the right as new Chief of Loxacin. Azazel disappeared, Notus was busy with the gladiator battles, and I was more than willing to rise to the challenge. Things were starting to look up for me, and I would most certainly take advantage of the situation. Having brushed my cheeks against the inside of my forelegs to wipe away the salty stains, I did my best to regain my composure. A chief of Loxacin should not be wandering around with their heart on their sleeve in situations such as this. I wasted no time in setting forth to double check my territory's boundaries. With Azazel's sudden disappearance, I wanted to be sure that it wasn't due to a predator or intruder who may have still been lingering around.
Finding nothing out of the ordinary, I began to slowly relax. Until my name was called. Evidently, news travels fast in these parts...Turning on my heel to the direction of the voice, I kept a lively trot so as not to keep whoever intruded waiting. Before I could meet the owner of the voice, a scent invaded my nares...No, scents...And one was familiar somehow. My crown tilted to the side with vague curiosity, a brow rising as I hurried along to greet whoever it was. Keeping my wings tucked close to my body, it didn't take me too long before I could see two figures standing ahead. A large, fluffy brute with antlers...And a very familiar angelic mare. The stallion must have called, and the thought of his intrusion, along with the thought of why he had Odette with him, made my ears momentarily flip backwards.
But I could not surpress the joy I had at seeing Odette, and a soft, genuine smile spread across my lips as I approached the mare. "Odette! What a pleasure to see you again, my dear." I typically disliked being rude, however for the moment I was so uplifted by Odette's arrival that I merely walked right by him and straight towards the one-winged mare. I stopped very close in front of her, stretching out my boa and angling my crown sideways in the offering of an equine-like hug. Bright eyes noted the small nub of a remaining wing on her shoulder, completely healed at last. "You've healed very well, I'm glad to see that." It came across my mind that I had never known why she lost a wing, and I couldn't help but study her features to catch a quick glimpse of the reasoning.
My face fell just slightly as I watched her 'elders' tear the appendage off, feeling nauseated by the thought of her ever having to respect those bastards. Going a little further back, I watched a brief montage of images flash before my eyes, an earth-bound stallion she fell in love with, his betrayel, her banishment for such a romance. Ouch, I couldn't help but once again feel pity for the innocent little thing, and cursed the stallion that caused her the initial pain to begin with. 'If I ever cross paths with him...' I made a silent oath to myself as I pulled away from Odette to finally direct my attention to the furry brute. What an odd beast for her to be around...Well, she did draw attention after all... I gave a dip of my muzzle to him nonetheless, as I read a brief moment of his past when he was chosen as leader of Thalmic. Ah, wonderful! I wanted to meet the other chiefs, sooner rather than later, yet it seemed I had been beaten to the punch. "Welcome, Thanatos...Odette...May I ask what brings you to Loxacin? Although, Odette has always been welcome to find me." I beamed for a moment at the mare, feeling very much like an older sister to the young vixen.

It didn't take long for the newly appointed Loxacin chief to find her way to the strangers who had waltzed so casually into the unfamiliar land. Immediately upon her arrival, the Thalmic stallion's posture shifted. Hardy hooves squared, drawing his deceivingly thick Aeonian frame to its entire height. Elegant neck bowed into a simple arch, shifting a step backward to stand more evenly beside Odette. The lovely indigo and violet mare whom approached seemed to glaze over him, attention switching to the angelic creature at his side. On instinct, Thanatos bristled, golden eyes narrowing as the purple hinted chief completely ignored his existence for the time being, seeming solely focused on the white and gold mare. A jealous protective fire began to ignite within his stomach, sending adrenaline pulsing through his veins. "Odette! What a pleasure to see you again, my dear." The words seemed harmless enough, tone relieved if anything. Ever so slowly, the Aeonian stallion relaxed, tense muscles loosening and breaths coming more evenly. She didn't seem to possess any ill feelings toward Odette, and therefore he felt just barely safer in her presence. Just barely.
"You've healed very well, I'm glad to see that." Thanatos watched the winged chief closely as she spoke to Odette as if they'd known each other their entire lives. But he looked closer, studying the one called Beautiful Disaster down to every last fine tuned detail. He'd seen that look, many a time. If being an Aeonian native meant anything, it meant Thanatos knew the magics of this land well. An experienced and quite capable shape shifter himself, he'd grown up in a clan full of interesting equines with countless stories to tell. Once more, golden eyes narrowed. More than one had stared at another with the same depth of which Beautiful Disaster scoured Odette. Those with psionics, and those with foresight. Which ever one it actually was, only time would tell, but now the stallion could only wonder what else the mare would hear or see. Finally, her attention moved from his stunning mate to himself, and he met her gaze with a cool, steady look of his own. Unwavering gaze did not leave the royal hued mares expression, a charcoal brow quirking curiously. Now what would she see.. or hear, about him? His and Odette's excellent and sudden romance? Him mulling over what her particular magic was?
Apparently her magic gave away who he was-- not that she needed it's help. "Welcome, Thanatos...Odette...May I ask what brings you to Loxacin? Although, Odette has always been welcome to find me." Head lifted with the mention of his name, acknowledging her correctness, as it were actually needed. He found himself without an immediate answer, a brief, fleeting frown flying across his emotionless facade. Thanatos had never been one to confront others. In fact, if he was, chances were it had been in his previous years as a rebellious trouble maker, wreaking havoc and picking fights. He hadn't even confronted Odette-- shame on him. She'd been the one to approach him and in turn convince him what he was feeling was not at all one sided or fake. But in seconds, he was speaking, without actually realizing he was speaking. "It's wonderful to meet the new chief of the Loxacin," He spoke with a shocking eloquence despite his rather rough and scraggly exterior. "I simply wanted to introduce myself, and Odette insisted on tagging along for a visit." He offered a simple smile, gaze turning fondly over to the pregnant, porcelain mare and lingering there with a softness so foreign to the masculine male. "I trust all is well with you?"

The sound of her name being called drew the fair-haired femme's attention to the speaker, and she turned her head just in time to catch sight of Beautiful Disaster coming towards her and her mate. Instantly her face broke into a wide, radiant grin at the sight of the beautiful purple-tinged figure, and her whole being seemed to light up with delight. With ears flicked forward eagerly and her crown drawn up high in the air, she returned the greeting with a warm, happy nicker before trotting out a few steps to meet Disaster and return her friendly hug. She had indeed only met the mare once in her life, and quite some time ago now, but Odette would never forget one who had shown her kindness when they were no more than strangers, and who had helped her during her rocky transition into the outside world. At the time, she had promised to help her benefactor sometime to repay that kindness, fearing only that they would part ways and never meet each other again. Now, however, it seemed that fate did indeed wish to reunite them, and the sight of a familiar friendly face after all this time was like a intoxicating drug of happiness.
» So much had changed between then and now, Odette would hardly have blamed her if Disaster hadn't even recognized her. Her first glimpse of the one-winged mare had been at the lowest point in her life, curled up on the ground covered in blood, grime, and tears, waiting to be swallowed by death. These days living in Thalmic with her beloved mate and carrying his child were arguably the best days of her existence, and she was practically beaming now with happiness and health despite - or perhaps because of - her pregnancy. Even the solemn, mournful look that always seemed to accompany her delicate features was almost drowned out by her broad smile, and she giggled like a little filly at Disaster's remark. "Yes, I have - due in no small part to your help all those days ago, no doubt." The vacant, mesmerized stare of the older mare's Foresight was lost on Odette, and she continued on talking, blissfully unaware that the Loxacin mare peeking into her darkest memories. "You've done well yourself, since I last saw you," she commented, taking a step or two back so she could examine her from head to toe. "Congratulations on your new position! New Chief of Loxacin... Very impressive! When I heard of your appointment I simply had to come see you along with Thanatos." Pausing to draw breath - for this was certainly more than the oft-shy mare was used to saying all in one go - she turned her beatific smile onto the thick-furred Aeonian stallion as she mentioned him. Unintentionally, as she looked upon her mate, her gaze took on a soft, dreamy tenderness that not even her reunion with Disaster had managed to evoke from her. "He is my mate as well as my Chief now, and has been wonderful to me all this time I've stayed in Thalmic."

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
It was comforting to have a respectful reaction from Thanatos, firm with his own authority yet understanding that I was an equal power. Or at least, that seemed to be how he acted. It was a fair enough response for me. My cheeks grew sore with the constant smile that graced my features, and I finally relaxed my expression enough to remain friendly though not overbearing. At Thanatos’ question I gave an answering nod, auds flicking to the side to catch Odette’s eager comments at the same time. With a light-hearted chuckle I could not help but allow myself to smile once more. “Indeed, though it’s been fairly quiet here. “ Returning my golden hazel gaze to the angelic mare, it surprised me to see just how much she was chattering away. It was a welcome change from the pitiful creature I had helped so long ago. “Thank you, and I’m glad that you came to visit. It’s nice to be remembered.”
The entire conversation took a sudden change when Odette turned to look at the furry, antlered stallion. It was blatantly obvious to my Psionics, yet you didn’t need to possess such powers to be able to read the expression of the love she felt for the stallion. Suddenly I became extremely nervous and wary of Thanatos, and the initial tension he felt upon first seeing me was now, understandably, validated. My expression overall remained friendly, for Odette did seem truly happy and well taken care of. However, that didn’t stop the darker look in my eyes as I looked over to the brute. However at Odette’s mentioning of the word ‘mate’, my distaste was made a little more clearly. With more scrutiny that I would have liked to express, I raised my crown to study him without giving so much as a damn if he knew what I was doing. While I usually found it wrong to pry into others lives in such a way, and did my best to never make it obvious, this was a special exception to the rule.
After learning what truly happened to Odette, knowing what had happened to her without her ever having to tell me, I would not so easily give my approval to their relationship. Truth be told, I had witnessed worst histories. Thanatos was far from the most barbaric creature I had met, yet he was also far from perfect. Granted, none of us were perfect. Yet there were flaws I could see in Thanatos that Odette could never possibly understand. My lips tugged down in a from, trying my damndest not to scrunch up my nose as though I had just inhaled a deep breath of sense-insulting odor. Did she know what a trouble maker she had ended up with? Did he know what had happened to her in her past? It was so difficult not to judge…So judge I did. While fleeting through his memories, I crossed a very particular one that involved Odette that I wished I had never visualized. The conceiving of their child finally brought a full on grimace to my face, and I stepped back with closed eyes and shaking my crown as though to shake it from my mind. I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing that and have been perfectly happy. It was for reasons like that alone that I tried to avoid prying too much into the pasts of others. It was my own fault, but it only fueled the anger.
The wild toss of my crown tousled my mane, and my auds pinned back with disgust as I opened my eyes with a bitter glare towards Thanatos. “Have you repented?” I demanded to know with a snarl, the fire never leaving my gaze as it burned into him. It was the most polite thing I could think to ask without causing too much panic for Odette’s part. Thanatos wasn’t a fool, he would know damn well exactly what I meant by my question. While part of me wanted to rip out the stallion’s throat for even touching Odette in such a manner, a tiny little part of my constantly whispered to keep Odette in mind. She was joyously happy, healthy and seemed to have a safe home. However I was not going to let Thanatos leave without my questioning. Had he repented his ways? The stallion who once couldn’t even dream of settling down with a single mare? The ‘rough and tumble’ kind of brute that I used to prey upon in my past life? I needed to know that he would remain loyal to Odette before even getting a potential sign of approval from me, as well as guarantee that not a single hair on her body would be harmed.
My muscles were tensed in case he retaliated against me, or in case he took my behavior as any sign of a threat towards Odette. That was far from the case, rather I was being very protective over the mare and was focusing all of my frustration, anger and confusion onto him. Something I’m sure he would prefer in the long run…
