Salt air swept in on the dull breezes towards the in lands, covering the peaceful, wide prairie nestled at the croup of the volcano in its bittersweet luster. The faint song of birds echoed in the rainforests far, only adding to the serenity of the valley despite the impending danger that lingered near. The tall grasses swayed softly in the gales, enjoying the fresh salt air. Soft, pastel colored flowers littered the prairie in clusters, their soft hues muted further by the intense emeralds of the trees that lined the edges not two miles off. Here and there, iridescent-purple rock formations jutted from the grounds, though seemingly placed with precision to only amplify the dangerous valley's beauty. Small game rustled in the bush hither, and all was untroubled.
A single equine grazed in the valley at this time, and it wouldn't have been such a strange and odd sight had he appeared differently. Spikes, horns, and great, powerful wings adorned his being, a tail, not with dock and sweeping hair, but of lengthy scale and dorsal plume circled around the stalks of the long grasses, as if playing mindlessly with them. The black wings, darker on the dorsal than on the ventral (the inner a muted black, dark gray) were held aloft, half open, to cool the beast as he grazed in the beating sun. What would have been a mane stretched down the length of his back from pole to the near tip of his long, reptilian tail. Two horns, irregular and not straight, grooved with sections, sprouted from the defensive plates along his forehead and nasal region, begun with a small spike. Hooked jaws, not prehensile like the rest of his kind, struggled with reaping the stalks of foliage, but the sharp teeth within, that closed perfectly air-tight, did offer some assistance. The creatures entire hide remained almost as a natural dark dapple gray with intense star bursts of the monotone hues, legs fading to black. However, dark, almost black, plates adorned various regions of his body, as if physical protective armor, and strange, intricate cyan markings that faintly glowed (though could not be seen now due to the sunlight) writhed around his pistons and facade. If one looked closely enough, when his wings twitched and stretched, the same cyan markings became apparent in vein-like markings.
The creature looked overly dramatic, a cross between draconic and equine blood. Though, not a speck of impurity crossed this stallion's heritage. Without a care in the world he continued to graze, content with the silence of the world and lax atmosphere. His head only rose once a white hare came bounding by, not two yards away. Its ears and head peeked over the thick mid-section of the valley, his brown eyes scanning, seemingly spooked. It didn't seem to mind the grazing creature, as it chewed lazily on the green mash in his mug, golden-yellow eyes staring at the hare. He merely watched it sniff at the air, and check repeatedly behind itself, back towards the rainforests. This went on for a minute or two, at times the brujo snapping quietly at another stalk or two, a pink, forked tongue wrapping around the vegetation as to hold it in place. Though, he still just watched the hare... and the hare did not watch him. In a flash of a second, the stallion lurched forward, propelled by three-toed hinds (resembling again a dragon). His mighty jaws parted at an alarming breadth, and before the hare had time to react. Sharp teeth, faintly stained yellow, came crashing around the small mammals body, consuming its head and torso in its jaws. It struggled, squealing in panic and pain for a few brief seconds, before crack!. Nicodemus, as all horse's did, finished clamping his jaws together before the next release, severing one foreleg, and both hides from the hare's body, which fell with a thud to the ground. Several droplets of ruby blood sprinkled the otherwise pristine valley.
The monotones stallion ruffled his wings, stretching them before pulling them back to his frame, chewing on the meet once, twice, then swallowing. Nostrils flared as he lowered his head back for the rest, finding the forearm and slurping it up with his tongue, then continued to the forelegs. These bones proved more durable, and took several more iron strong crunches for them to go down safely. Once the rabbit was devoured and no trace was left save its lifeblood that splashed some of the stallion's legs and the grass it had been hiding. As if nothing had happened, the stallion then lazily turned away, walking without purpose, back to his original location, wings spreading once more, and continued to graze.

The air was gentle, the landscape was gorgeous, the white stallion was lost. As calm of place that this valley that the horse was walking through it still put him on edge. Nothing was familiar about any of the land he had traveled in the last few days, or has it already moved on to weeks? This new land held so many strange and new animals that had only ever been told of in stories back home.
The stallion slowed to a stop when a new figure came into view. He strained his good eye as far as it would go, wishing once more that his milky eye worked, after all two badly seeing eyes were still two seeing eyes. Slowly stalking forward, the began to clear. The stallion's heart jumped to his throat. It looked like another horse! The last horses he had seen had been apart of his herd. He picked his pace up, longing to question this other horse about this strange land, but he quickly stopped again.
Blinking several times, he slowly rubbed his head against his right leg. He looked back at the figure, but the result was still the same. It appeared to be a horse but one that had bat-like wings and two horns. Any thought about asking where he was left his mind. He was almost transfixed. The few other animals he had come across so far where either completely new or quite familiar to him. He had yet to see one that was a mix of both, assuming that in front of him was a horse.
When the white stallion thought he couldn't get anymore surprised, he watched the other catch, kill and consume a rabbit like it was an everyday activity. He stood stock still as the other went about grazing. Why was grazing? He had never seen a wolf graze nor had he ever seen a horse eat flesh. What was going on with this place? But the better question was to stay or flee? He decided against fleeing (right now anyway) and made a more complete observation of the valley, looking for exits in case one was needed.

♱ The peaceful grazing continued as if nothing happened for a few brief moments after Nicodemus had swallowed the rabbit, until from the corner of his eye a white fleck danced. Golden eyes rolled, glancing through the tall stalks to see a blurred vision of a pale equine. Once more his head shot up, surprised he hadn't even smelt the stallion approach (or had he just been too focused to realize? He decided on that). Blue eyes, sky blue, almost alien and foreign in their socket, stared back at him with almost a sense of terror and fear. Nicodemus returned his stare, however with meek interest and surprise. His head cocked a moment, a very typical action, and he seemed to study the other stallion a bit.
♱ He appeared almost frail. His coloration was so pale and fleshy, making him appear almost ghostly. There were portions of Nicodemus' own body that bore the light coloration, but dark, black skin hide underneath, and gave it more of a silver tone. This brute was milky white, like virgin cloth. Though, he wasn't as pristine as believed at first. There were scars that dotted his pelt, obvious signs of feral life - which, of course, wasn't any form of surprise to the dragonic stallion. He seemed relatively untouched by the Rift and the Ethereal power of Aeon. This was, in fact, interesting... though, Nicodemus would never be able to actual inquire on such things.
♱ Nicodemus nodded in the stallion's direction, his angular snout bobbing in a polite gesture of greetings. Behind him, his tail rolled in a loll, as if pleased. Without any further ability to communicate, or feeling no real need, the stud lowered his head to the grasses again. Parting his intimidating mug, the razor teeth flashed in the sun, and his moist forked tongue grappled upon more moist grass before continuing to reap away the vegetation just as easily as he had the hare.

The jet black mare had been watching the whole scene unfold from the shade of the edge of the forest. She had been there for quite a while, studying the Aeonian specimen from a safe distance. It had only been a few days since her transfer from Earth to Aeon, and her adjustment was somewhat in need of watching and learning first. So as she had traveled through the forest not ten minutes ago, she came across quite a sight. The black stallion was grazing the grass, no unlike any other horse, but he had reptilian-like wings, with dragonesque features. With, what she could only guess was, a strong tail that protruded from the end of his spine and armor plates that went from the top of his muzzle to the top of his forehead, which then became two long pointed horns, he was unlike any equine she had seen. And that was saying something, seeing as she had seen quite a few oddities on this planet, including herself. His markings were quite unique too. Cyan, and odd colour for equine coats...
So there she sat in the shade, watching the interesting male graze. She also saw him consume a whole rabbit, then go back to his mowing. Aiden had frozen in shock. Then another horse caught her eye. He was a little ways down, also at the edge of the forest, and was looking at the stallion on the hill in horror. Said meat-eater just glanced up, then went back to grazing, dispelling the newcomer. She turned back the more interesting equine and went back to watching lazily. The heat was once more making her drowsy. It was funny how fast she could dismiss seeing a vegetarian eat meat. She snorted quietly as her head lolled. Flicking her ears tiredly, she relaxed in the pleasant temperature.

♱ All her was doing was standing there, gawking and staring at Nicodemus like some sort of monster. The pale brute barely even moved to breath. He just sat there, frozen with fear, staring. The dragon-horse lifted his head, golden eyes once again staring over at his fellow who just repeated the latter actions, mouth agape. A wave of uncomfortableness overcame Nicodemus, and his tail twitched in response. Sweeping head turned to the left, and then to the right, checking for other forms of life as well as to see if this brute was just petrified of something else in the area. Nothing came to sight. He was just staring at Nicodemus. Brujo's ears fell back, not in embarrassment but in agitation, and a low growl rocked in his throat, eyes slitting at the paler brute. Still, unmoving despite the smallest of verbal threats. With a snort, more towards himself now than his counterpart, the monotone and cyan creature parted its massive, elongated jaws to once again reveal the sharp teeth inside, and strange dragon-like noise spilling from the gap. It didn't sound like any recognizable sound, nor was it actually Aeonian speech in any fashion. It merely was imitations of speak that the poor stallion failed to extend, ending with a jumbled voice of grunts, growls, moans, and pre-roars. Nicodemus couldn't extend any other verbal communication, so the stallion would have to do with it what he did.
♱ Which was nothing. Once again, Nicodemus shifted with anxiety, fore hooves swapping his full weight back and forth, lifting from the ground only to slam back down. What did he want? Nothing but a marble slate of terror broken with odd shades of color to frame the agape muzzle of a stag turned stone. A wave of sorrow swept through his body, leaving traces of self conscientiousness and doubt, and without further moments of thought Nicodemus ducked his head low with a mournful, low resonating growl and walked off to in the direction of the woods. At least there, he could eat with some coverage and privacy. Golden eyes swept back to watch his volcano home, where creatures of different species accepted his appearance and oddities without question. There were times that it seemed his only sanctity. The thrump of normal hoove beats were distorted with muffled steps of toed feet, with clinks of pebbles sent flicking away from both hoof and claw. It was strange to listen too, if unaccustomed, and surely one wouldn't have guessed it belonged to an equine.
♱ The sunlight dappled his pelt through the imperfect canopy as the dragon stepped beneath the first of the rainforest's shade, shaking his nape of any pestering bugs that had followed him due to heat. Stepping up into a small elevation to accompany entering the woodland area, Nicodemus kept his nose and ears alert to this surroundings as he stepped bravely forward without hesitation. All Aeonians knew the dangers of the woods. Hell, there were dangers of the prairies as well, and despite the grotesque appearance of a dragon and horse slammed together in some Gods' sick experiment, he was still on much larger predators menus. Though, this was the least of his worries at the moment. Stopping, his golden eyes locked with another pair of equal color, and both just starred at each other for sometime. She was charcoal, with ivory accents in her tresses and feathers, as well as a elusive set of stark antlers atop her head. Ears flicked forward with interest, having not seen nor smelt her since he had been to busy dealing with the other fellow. Tail flicked back and forth like a contemplating cat, snapping at ferns and sometimes breaking an unlucky flora's stem. Funny, he'd thought the woods would stop others from staring.

Aiden Aiden felt a cold shiver down her spine as she watched the equine with the dragon features walk her way. It was short lived fear though, for as the male approached, there were no clear signs of aggression coming from him. Slowly, she got up and looked at the golden eyes, not unlike her own, her curiosity reflecting the horse's. She had seen him produce some garbled noises before, and assumed that it was the native Aeonian language, but she wondered if this creature spoke the same tongue as her.
"Hello," her voice was soft, and a bit silky. Aiden just assumed that it was because she had "changed" in the transfer. "I am Aiden. May I know your name?" This equine was really starting to peak her attention. She shuffled her wings to a more comfortable position and stared in interest at his mutations. She put on a slight smile, to show that she wasn't prying. Of course he could say what he pleased...

♱ She had just stared. Sat there, and stared for a very long time. Well, what could he say? Nicodemus was used to it. He appeared more so one of the most feared beasts of Aeon than he did equine. There were days he wondered if it was some sick joke played by the Gods' whom created this realm and all within it. Than again, it may be some sort of blessing? Nicodemus didn't bother himself with such self centered follies, and therefore just blinked them away, still staring at the striking mare before him. Body mass wise, they were equally matched. Though Nicodemus was almost lithe in comparison to this new stranger, he was still built with muscle atop muscle, caged by thick, scale plating, where she was exposed like an ebony nerve. He wondered how it felt to have every aspect of his body completely open for the smallest of scraps.
♱ As was typical, a genuine curiosity overcame her and she extended the ever so accustomed greetings. His elongated mug turned towards slightly. Hmph. Talking. Always talking. His leathery wings adjusted, their dark color absorbing the warmth out of the golden, dapple sunlight that showered them. It was almost uncomfortable, though he supposed he hadn't noticed the warmth when his entire body had previously been submerged in the Aeonian sun's gaze. Golden eyes flashed down to the ground momentarily between blinks. One blink, down, two blink, back up again. A polite, slow nod lowered his head in gesture towards the dark mare, before raising with the slightest of rumbles in his throat, a small growl-like noise. There was nothing else he could do, besides upkeep a calm and none-threatening composure.
