[atrb=border,1,true][atrb=bordercolor,304180,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=cellpadding,25,true]あ ゆ み A Y U M I
Hello everybody! This is my little corner to introduce myself and say a little bit about me. First off, my name - 'Ayumi' is a pseudonym, of course, but it's fairly similar to my real name, which is Amy. I'm also known as Ayu, Yumi, Ultear, and Ult. I'll respond to whatever you care to call me!
I am in my secong year in college, studying Biochemistry. I'm a major science geek, particularly for biology and chemistry (go figure), and I go gaga for things like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Big Bang Theory, etc. While I'm not nearly as big on the humanities, I do enjoy good books and good writing. I love dance (studied classical ballet for over 10 years), manga, music (mostly Chinese/Japanese rock), Japanese alternative fashion (think lolita and hime gyaru), and all kinds of handicrafts. Asides from English, I speak fluent Mandarin Chinese and French, and am learning Japanese. My current obsession is tsumami kanzashi, which is essentially the flower headdresses you see on geisha and maiko - check out my creations on my deviantART here! Also feel free to hit me up if you want to plot, chat, roleplay, or just chat about random things in general! ^-^
NOTE about kyou ka sui getsu: In case you were curious about what it means, it's 镜花水月, an old Chinese/Japanese phrase translating roughly to 'flower in the mirror, moon in the water'. It refers to ephemeral, illusory beauty, seeing as neither the flower reflected in the mirror nor the moon reflected in the lake are real.

.....appearance
Images: One | Two (by xyroca)
Breed: Arabian mix Height: 15.0 hh Appearance: Grimoire positively exudes an air of sinuous beauty, all neatly coiled muscle and tendon wrapped beneath an attractive outer covering. She displays all the classic Arabian traits, including the elegant, arched neck, dished face, and slender, willowy body frame that belies the strength and endurance within. Overall an athletic physique, it is coupled with an impressive aesthetic appeal, with silken white tresses and a satiny pale grey coat frosted with dapples. Long, slender legs ending in black hooves as well as a flagged tail complete the image of feminine beauty. Most fascinating is the shimmering, opalescent quality to her coloring, much like the iridescence of light dancing on the inside of a seashell. Her coat, mane, and tail all share this quality, and in the right light, particularly at nighttime, it appears as though her entire body is crystalline and translucent. Radiant facial features are completed with glimmering, intelligent eyes, colored a deep rich purple that appears black in most light.
The beauty, however, is a deceptive lure for the real danger, which is quietly concealed beneath her innocuous-looking exterior. Hidden in her mouth are a long, curved pair of folding fangs, which emerge upon will to deposit their venom into flesh and blood. The symptoms of her bite include almost instant onset of nausea, paralysis, and severe pain, adverse effects lasting up to several days. At maximum power, she gains the ability to breathe clouds of poisonous gas as a defense mechanism, and her blood becomes tainted with acid - harmless inside her veins, but ready to corrode and burn through anything it touches once spilled. The venom, despite its toxicity, is usually nonlethal to creatures as large as horses, but having too much pumped into one's bloodstream is still fatal. Like the small, deadly viper, she tends to move with slow, deliberate grace, at least until provoked into striking - at which time her lightning-quick reflexes and sheer viciousness tend to catch most off-guard. Although not as strong as many other fighters, she is cunning enough to use her innate agility and endurance to great effect.
.....personality
Strengths: intelligent, eloquent, decisive, protective, extraordinary speed and agility, goal-oriented and ruthless Weaknesses: prototypical high-functioning sociopath, arrogant, self-centered, and narcissistic with a grandiose sense of self and entitlement, distrustful, not physically strong, demanding, unforgiving, unsympathetic Personality: At a glance, Grimoire Heart is a refined, intelligent mare, well-spoken and eloquent with a sharp wit and sardonic sense of humor. She is, however, excellent at concealing her thoughts and emotions, and one must delve much deeper to see the truth of her persona, which is nowhere near as pretty as she is. A true sociopath, she is ruthless and manipulative, even aggressive in a very sly, cunning way. An excellent and chronic liar, it is almost impossible to distinguish the truth from her smooth, glib lies, even for the most observant. As a general rule, she views others as a means to accomplish her ends, and so feels no remorse in using, abusing, and manipulating them as she sees fit. In her eyes, Grimm considers herself with a rather exaggerated sense of self-worth, arrogance, and pride (which is partially, though not fully, justified by her acute intelligence), to the point of believing herself entitled to rule the world (if anyone asked). As a result, she has difficulty with emotional connections, whether it be friendship, love, or even empathy, simply because she doesn't see anyone as her own equal. She can understand others perfectly - after all, she has a very keen eye when it comes to picking out faults, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities - but to her, it is like analyzing animals in a glass cage.
Despite all this, Grimoire Heart does have her redeeming traits - she is emotionally incredibly strong, able to withstand all manners of stress, pressure, and trauma. No matter what difficulties she encounters, she soldiers on ahead and builds upon her past experiences to strengthen herself. Her many experiences in life have made her much more mature than the average mare of her age, and she is practically unflappable - in any crisis, she has the remarkable ability to analyze the facts of the situation and make quick, resolute decisions. This is not to say, however, that she is laid-back or mellow by any means. For all her feminine charms, Grimm is aggressive, ambitious, and merciless, and she will not waste time calculating or analyzing when she feels the situation calls for action. Grimoire is also an excellent judge of character, and she has a sharp eye for those she deems 'useful'. The character traits she seeks are not necessarily the valiant, noble types - rather, she is incredibly practical, and appreciates anyone who gets the job done (regardless of how they did it). Her ultimate dream is to create a powerful herd full of such talented and capable individuals, tightly-knit and unstoppable in any endeavor. Ironically, she makes for a great leader and ally despite her lack of empathy or remorse; Grimoire is extremely protective of anyone she considers to be "hers" and will instantly and fiercely leap to their defense, whether they be a follower, supporter, or just someone she took a fancy to.
.....history
Dam: Trinity Raven Sire: Bloody Cross Past Ranks: Herd Mare, Spy/Assassin, Lead Mare Past Herds: birth herd, Ouroboros's herd History: Grimoire Heart was born to a powerful family of magic-users in Aeon, with high hopes resting on her young shoulders. Her parents were quite disappointed to have produced a child who looked no different from other non-magical equines, a little black filly who, although beautiful, seemed to have no magical trait other than her strange iridescent coat. Young Grimm grew up with rather distant and aloof parents, who lost faith in her after being repeatedly disappointed by her apparent lack of magical ability. As a result, she quickly learned to take care of herself, developing into a rather cold but very independent child. She never did forgive her parents for abandoning her, however, and when she turned three and was formally recognized as an adult, she left the herd to seek her future elsewhere.
As fate would have it, only days after leaving her birth herd, Grimoire discovered that she was, in fact, blessed with the magical bloodlines of her ancestors. She sprouted fangs that could be folded back and hidden in her mouth at will, and a single bite could inject predators and enemies alike with venom. Determined to make the most of her talents, she joined in with a band of young bachelor stallions - an unusual situation, to be sure, but she made it work. Originally allowed to join them on account of her physical attractiveness, Grimm quickly proved to be much more than they had bargained for. She sparred and roughhoused with them like any other colt, and come spring, when each virile young stallion tried their luck with her, each found himself coldly rejected, more often than not painfully poisoned for his efforts. Eventually the message got across, and they learned to accept her as a peer, both for her increasing fighting prowess as well as her sarcastic sense of humor. Although she readily accepted that she was not as strong as many of the stallions, she was quick, nimble, and extremely skilled at using that to her advantage.
As with all bachelor herds, eventually they began to part ways, splitting off to find their own herds and fortunes. Out of the group of them, Grimoire chose to follow a stallion named Ouroboros, whom she greatly admired for his leadership, strength, and extraordinary magical prowess. For a time she worked under him as his personal spy (and occasionally assassin), covertly gathering information on his enemies and effectively paving the path for his new herd. Eventually Ouroboros promoted Grimoire to be his lead mare - six years old at the time, the perfect young, beautiful, and powerful trophy queen. Not long after, she was found to be in foal, and it seemed as though they were to be blessed with an heir.
Youth, however, and the inexperience that came with it proved to be Grimoire's downfall. Drunk on power and the prestige of her new title, she fell careless victim to the political machinations of a large herd. The high-ranking officers working beneath Ouroboros plotted to dispose of the young lead before she foaled, hoping to replace her with a weaker mare of their own choosing. Secretly they whispered in Ouroboros's ear, planting seeds of suspicion and doubt that eventually flowered into resentment and spite. Grimoire was unfaithful, they insisted. The child, conceived so quickly, was not his at all; such a poisonous, untrustworthy female was unfit to be his lead. In a fit of rage, Ouroboros lashed out at her and banished her from his herd, killing their unborn foal in the process.
For a long time Grimm wandered restlessly, bitter at the sudden turn in her fate and swearing bloody vengeance on Ouroboros and his followers. Refusing to be defeated by his treachery, she promised to become stronger than ever before, to have her ultimate revenge and become leader of a herd even greater than his wildest imagination. Biding her time, she waited patiently and honed her skills, waiting for the time to seize her rightful glory. The opportunity came unexpectedly, disguised in the form of an old, weary mare, fraught with illness and on death's doorstep. Grimoire stayed with her in the old dame's last moments, and the mare revealed herself as Sonya, the chief of the Selisona clan - a clan that would soon be leaderless with her passing. In an unexpected but long-awaited blessing, Sonya bestowed leadership of the clan upon Grimoire, and passed away soon after. Grimm accepted the responsibility with unflinching resolve and seized on the opportunity, determined to lead the Selisona clan to greatness.

Name: Odette Nicknames: N/A Gender: Female Age: 5 Birth Season: Summer Birth Place: a remote mountain in the Outlaying Summit
Clan: Thalmic Rank: Mare Magic Class: N/A
......appearance
Images: One | Two (by Koosh)
Breed: Andalusian x Lusitano Height: 15.2 hh Appearance: Graced with an elegant, yet well-muscled and lean frame, Odette displays all the poise and uplifted carriage of her Spanish breeds. Her bodice is wrapped in a satin-smooth coat white as newly fallen snow, tinted only at her dark grey hooves, muzzle, and deep liquid black eyes. The only color to be found on her is on her mane and tail, which are both a stunning shade of bright, untarnished gold. Both fall in long, undulating waves, her mane in particular ending near her knees in shining curls while her tail drags on the ground. On her back one finds a pair of magnificent, pearly white wings - or rather one wing, as the right wing is completely severed at the elbow joint, leaving behind only a feathered stub. The left retains its splendor, with soft white feathers ending in gold tips the same shade as her tresses. Her primary and secondary feathers are all gold, although none of these are to be found on her mutilated right wing.
Odette moves with a deliberate, careful step, neck arched and broad chest displayed like any proud Andalusian ought, but with a wariness that stems from both physical imbalance due to her missing limb as well as mental trauma. She habitually presents her left side to others whenever possible, which is often accomplished by hiding behind her thick curtain of long blonde tresses.
......personality
Strengths: passionate, moralistic, trustworthy, optimistic, strong conviction, love for life Weaknesses: impulsive, shy, gullible, unrealistic expectations, lack of experience Personality: Odette is a quiet, rather introverted thinker, with a very idealistic and Romantic view of others and the world around her. Although she is quite shy around strangers and speaks little unless incited, there is a great abundance of thought in her young mind. She believes in the importance of free thought and spontaneous, powerful emotions, spurning restrictive rules and norms. As such, she can be rather impulsive when inspired by strong, untrammeled feelings, and she will not hesitate to devote all her energies to something she feels passionately for. She finds it difficult to make decisions objectively with hard facts and logic, and instead relies heavily on her intuition to guide her through life. Of course, this can and will land her in a bit of trouble, because her intuition is not always accurate due to her youth and lack of experience.
Despite her whimsical nature, however, Odette has a strong set of morals and values that she adheres to without fail. She is always sincere, honest, and responsible, and genuinely concerned about the well-being of those around her. Thoughtful and considerate, she delights in helping others and is always a good listener. She is quite convinced that her purpose in life is to make the world a better place for others. This warm kindness makes her a very lovable figure and easy to befriend, even if it takes some time to overcome her initial reserved shyness. She is a pacifist and avoids conflict as much as possible, but will occasionally rise to the challenge if needed. The most surefire way to provoke her is to violate or threaten her values, because she will instantly, passionately, and fearlessly defend anything she feels is right.
Ultimately beneath it all, she is really a young girl who has yet to be entirely disillusioned from her perfect ideals. She believes (believed? see history) in true love at first sight, along with all the beautiful fantasies of magic, miracles, and knights in shining armor. Recent events and experiences have caused her conviction in these to falter somewhat, but she wishes fiercely that these ideals do exist despite the imperfect world. Odette clings to the belief that there is good in everyone, and has yet to be thoroughly disenchanted from her girlish dreams.
......history
Dam: Giselle Sire: Valentine Past Ranks: Herd Mare Past Herds: clan of Pegasi History: Odette was born in a clan of mountain-dwellers hidden away in the Outlaying Summit, winged equines who soared through the skies and ruled the domain of the heavens. Living amidst roaring gales and freezing snow and sleet, they were impervious to the cold and the harsh weather, and their great flying prowess allowed them to inhabit the highest peaks of the mountain where no earthbound creature could reach. As such, they came to believe themselves to be the superiors of all other equines, like winged angels of heaven who disdained the world of mortals. As time passed, they isolated themselves atop their lonely mountain crags, and even the memory of the world below the clouds began to fade with each passing generation.
The birth of a snow-white filly with stunning golden tresses seemed to herald the arrival of a blessèd child of the seraphs, and as Odette grew into a young mare, she was universally admired for her charming radiance as well as astonishing flying skills. There was no storm she could not traverse, no wrathful gale that could keep her earthbound, and all the heavens were her playground. Bolstered by the fearlessness of youth, she delighted in flying out into raging storms while all her playmates lagged behind, then staying out long enough to make her parents worry before darting back home unscathed.
On one occasion, Odette had again disappeared during a violent storm, vanishing into the clouds as quickly as a fish into water with a playful flirt of her golden tail. As the blizzard passed and she roamed the open skies, however, she was seized with an unbearable curiosity to see the world below, which was forbidden to all of her clan. That fateful day, Odette alighted for the first time in a rolling green meadow, and there appeared before her like an apparition a dashing young stallion. He charmed the young pegasus mare and swept her into a dizzying dream of romance, and before they parted that day she was convinced she had found her heart's desire. Again and again they met in secret despite the laws of her clan, and they pledged undying love for each other in a fashion befitting the ballads of old.
But Odette was a fool for believing she could keep such a liaison a secret forever, and it was not long before they were discovered and she was brought face to face with the consequences of her crime. All her clan implored her to give up her earthbound lover, or she would not only be exiled, but her wings would be cut off to prevent her from ever returning to her ancestral home. But she was young and impetuous, and believed that love would protect her from all hardships. She chose banishment and mutilation. Trembling but determined, she stretched out her prized golden wings, and in a flurry of slashing hooves and feathers they tore away her right wing. At the last moment her mother threw herself before her daughter and begged for forgiveness, and so her left wing was spared the same punishment.
Broken and alone, Odette half-stumbled, half-fell down the mountain in shame, her warm blood staining her white coat and the pristine snow with red. Yet through the pain and humiliation, she was happy - happy to be free, and soon to be reunited forever with her lover. But what she didn't know was that he proved to be a superficial and deceitful stallion, and he, too, spurned her when he realized her imperfection. His rejection wounded her more deeply than even the loss of limb, and Odette suffered greatly through physical and emotional anguish for many days. Suddenly, all her dreams of true love seemed far away and ephemeral, and whenever she looked up, the unreachable heights of the clear blue sky would taunt her for her foolishness.
So she stumbled into the world of Aeon, alone, lost, and struggling to find a new place for herself in completely unfamiliar territory. In a stroke of good luck amidst all her misfortune, Odette ran into a mare named Beautiful Disaster, who helped her survive in her new environment.

Name: Sephiroth Nicknames: Demon (unofficial nickname is Seph, which he will not respond to) Gender: Male Age: 11 Birth Season: Summer Birth Place: Aeon
Clan: Gascti Rank: Omega Stallion Magic Class: Elemental Fire [Level IV] Items: Etherstone Necklace
......appearance
Images: One
Breed: Warlander (Friesian x Andalusian) Height: 16.3 hh Appearance: The one word most suited to Sephiroth's appearance is 'demonic' - colored a bloody scarlet, with massive leathery black wings and four wickedly curved horns, he is an impressive and more than slightly frightening sight to behold. His crimson body with black points makes him a true 'blood bay' in the most extreme sense of the color. Despite the menacing appearance, however, he carries a noble, elegant air about him all the same, quite characteristic of his Friesian and Andalusian ancestors. A thickly muscled body is offset by a rather refined head and clean, powerful legs, each with a black stocking past the knee or hock and light feathering at the fetlocks. He carries himself in a proud, aristocratic fashion, neck arched and his gait surprisingly light and elegant despite his dense bulk. Completing the image are his thick, luxuriant locks of raven-black mane and tail, and dark grey hooves almost hidden beneath his feathers.
That, however, is the last of what can be considered traditionally beautiful about Sephiroth. Everything else about him contributes to the ghastly aura that gave rise to his nickname of the Demon. Cat-like eyes, bright green with slitted pupils, have excellent night vision and tend to 'glow' in the darkness in the same manner as a nocturnal hunter's. Two pairs of blackened horns, one tall and spiraling above his head, the other twisting forward past his cheeks, end in deadly points, comprised of dense bone and capable of immense damage. His teeth are naturally pointed - not quite fangs, but narrower and much sharper than an average equine's. Finally, on his back he sports a giant pair of bat's wings, covered in tough, resilient leather and also heavily muscled to enable flight. The thumbs of these wings, as well as each of the four fingers, end in long, curved spikes, useful for defensive or offensive purposes alike.
......personality
Strengths: intimidating, incredible strength, cunning, ability of flight, gentlemanly manners Weaknesses: reckless, explosive temper, violent, cruel, arrogant and condescending Personality: Sephiroth, in short, has quite an unpleasant personality to match his demonic exterior. Aggressive almost to a fault, he is very demanding of others and almost unfailingly tries to solve all his problems with violence. Given his physical advantage, this tends to work more often than not, which in turn enforces the habit. His temper can be triggered by anything that irks or irritates him, and when he lashes out, as he frequently does, he can be likened to a rampaging monster, attacking anything and everything without any restraint or heed for consequences. When it comes to damage inflicted on others, his only philosophy is the more the better - Sephiroth harbors a rather sadistic taste for suffering and death, with a cruelty and heartlessness matched by very few others. This is not to say that he is a mindless killing machine, although he can and sometimes will revert to just that. He is intelligent enough to know when it is necessary to retreat, although he loathes the idea. If given a choice, he would rather attack first and ask questions later, consequences be damned.
When not inflicting death and suffering upon others, however, Sephiroth presents a gentlemanly exterior to the world, vastly different from his monstrous, destructive self. He is generally cultured, intelligent, and even surprisingly well-mannered, although he is haughty and arrogant and unafraid to let others know that he considers them to be inferior. Only the few who have earned his respect are treated as friends; all others are subject to his condescending disdain, and in fact, he would be just as quick to attack and kill a hard-earned friend if said friend annoyed him sufficiently. He considers mares in general to be even further beneath him than the general populace, and so has no qualms in seducing and using them as he pleases. Ultimately, however, Sephiroth is not quite able to become the emotionless weapon he desires to be, unable to become a true "Demon". It is a failing that he strives unsuccessfully his whole life to overcome. He is, in fact, capable of becoming deeply and emotionally attached to a few individuals, including mares, and if thus attached, he would give up his life in a heartbeat for them.
......history
Dam: Jenova Sire: Masamune Past Ranks: Bachelor Stallion, freelance mercenary Past Herds: birth herd, bachelor herd History: Sephiroth himself is unaware of the fact, but his story stretches back far beyond his own birth. Far past the Rift, in another time and world, his soul had been housed in a stallion named Broken Devotion, also known as Omen, who had loved a mare by the name of Beautiful Disaster. Together they planned to revolt and depose the King of their herd, dreaming of their own empire to rule. The King eventually grew suspicious of the pair and sent spies after them, but by then it was too late - he and Beautiful Disaster had made all the arrangements, and were waiting only for the appointed day to come.
Before their plans could be set in motion, Omen met his brother, Leviathan, to whom he divulged the plot, hoping to secure his assistance. Leviathan agreed, and for days Omen told him all about Beautiful Disaster, telling his brother about the mare he planned to enthrone as queen and the kingdom they would rule together. Although he meant to tell Disaster about Leviathan, he realized that they were being guarded too closely, and could not meet without rousing further suspicion. Deciding to lie low instead, Omen figured that his brother's assistance was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, and that introducing him to Disaster could wait until later. What he didn't realize, however, was that Leviathan was much more unstable and dangerous than he suspected. Listening to his brother describe Disaster in glorious, adulating terms, Leviathan slowly obsessed more and more about her, harboring an intense jealousy against his brother for claiming such a prize, while he was left as second best. Only days before the promised time, Leviathan called out Broken Devotion to meet on innocent pretenses, and when he came unaware, Leviathan ambushed and killed his brother.
Broken Devotion was dead, but his soul wandered restlessly for two years, unable to depart with unfinished business left behind. One day, it was sucked through the Rift and into Aeon, given new life in the form of a scarlet red colt that they named Sephiroth.
This colt lived an average, uneventful childhood, growing up rambunctious and reckless, with a violent streak already emerging. When he was of appropriate age, he was driven away from his birth herd, and soon gathered a group of colts to become his gang of followers. Together they wreaked all the havoc they wished upon the land, terrorizing travelers and wanderers and pillaging any herd they could for land, resources, and, when they grew older, mares. Sephiroth became their de facto leader, inspiring awe and fear and forcing anyone into submission who dared to challenge his authority. When they had all grown into full-fledged stallions and separated ways, Sephiroth still spurned the domestic herd life, and instead he wandered wherever his whim carried him. Playing on his strengths, he hired himself out as a freelance mercenary soldier, fighting for anyone who could give him sufficient incentive to do so, whether it was shelter, the rights to a beautiful mare, or anything else that struck his fancy. In these years, his distinctive appearance and infamous cruelty earned him a fitting nickname - the Demon Sephiroth. Thriving off of death, bloodshed, and war, he soon made his appearance in these parts, waiting for the clan wars to erupt so that his services would be useful once more.
Not long after his arrival, he unknowingly came across the reincarnation of Beautiful Disaster, his lover from his past life, as well as hired himself out to the Gascti Chieftain Adelaide Dresner, unaware of the drama that was to ensue.
