"speech!" thoughts!
This world is certainly a strange one, but anyhow, I'm not complaining. It's much better than back at home, where right now I would more than likely in politics class. A class made up of only me, that is, which has proved to be a dull way of learning. It's always much better during lunchtime, when I was allowed one hour of recess and I could play with my friends. Well, they weren't so much my friends by my parent's wishes, so I had always called them my acquaintances. They had always told be, when I had slipped up and said the "F" word, that when it had come my time to rule that I would have no time for friends and other silly little distractions. No matter how much my parents told me these things and disheartened me, I never complained because I knew they loved me and were proud of me, proud enough to trust me with the throne one day. But life since that last night hasn't been much of a drab, and besides, who would it bother to leave their old lives and come here, the Island of Adventure? Someone who was up-tight and very pessimistic, or so I'd imagine. But so far, here in this little rainforest I hadn't met a single soul. So what would I know? There could possibly be no one on this seemingly large slab of earth, and I would believe such a thought if it weren't for the many scents still lingering faintly in the air. Perhaps it was like in Alaska, where it was daytime all the time? I made a mental note to ask my mother, but I stopped short, remembering that she wasn't here, and I wasn't there, and so I'd just have to figure it out for myself.
|
All I could see was green and brown, and the occasional blue of the sky between the emerald leaves above my head. The dirt was moist and softly packed, not hard enough to defy my hoof prints but only leave sharp crescent-like slits in the place of my entire hoof. I felt so small compared to the gigantic trees, standing tall like the defenders of the forest. Suddenly I stopped and cocked my head, thinking back. What was that? I asked myself, appalled by the imagination that had drifted away so suddenly. Who would think of such a thing? Silently reprimanding myself, I shook my head and began to stroll down a small rocky hill, the calm bubbling of a stream just beside me the only sounds audible in the massive jungle I had found myself in. What had this land done to me? I had become one of thoughtless dreaming, impossible visions, unrealistic things. A sigh escaped my lips as I leap the rest of the way down the small lump of earth, landing in a small clearing, the sunlight pouring through the leaves and creating a shadowy tattoo on the ground. I walked into the middle, shadows now flitting across my reddish-tan hide. My mane and tail had, thankfully, not gotten dirty or tangled, and remained perfectly straight and boldly red throughout my journey. My honey brown eyes wandered around, gathering the landscape and storing it in my mind in case I had a need to return here. But for now, I figured I'd stop and take a rest, wait out the rest of the day and begin again in the morning. Sooner or later, I'd have to reach civilization, right?

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
I was no stranger to wandering aimlessly around Aeon, far from it actually. Having spent most of my life in Aeon as a rogue long before I became the chief of Loxacin, I knew these lands like the back of my hand. It was something that would come as an advantage to me while I was out in search of new recruits for Loxacin. It was a pity that I actually had to go out and hunt down my own members, while the other lands like Selisona just seemed to have everyone stumble in looking for a home. Perhaps others were thrown off by just how picky I was? Even more so than the former chief, Azazel? Perhaps I had to take some time to adjust my priorities. At least, for the moment…Perhaps if I let down my expectations, I could lift the numbers for a little while and then only accept the best of the best?
’What bullshit…’ I thought to myself, already disgusted by the thought of having to lower my standards just to keep Loxacin in existence as a clan rather than a two-man band. If I did have to bring myself to that, whoever was accepted would have to realize that they would have a lot of work ahead of them. If anything, I was not going to accept someone that was completely and utterly useless. Be it training in new magic, fighting, or even finding someone to help recruit…They would prove their worth and pull their weight around.
My auds perked slightly at a sound ahead, the trees blocking my sight as I listened quietly. Hoofsteps. Light, dainty little hoofsteps. My curiosity got the better of me, and slowly I walked forward, sticking to the shadows as I usually did. My massive wings were tucked close to my barrel, trying to avoid snagging on low hanging branches or vines. Following the sounds, my bright golden optics darted towards some movement, and through the leaves I could just make out a small equine. A filly, old enough to survive without ‘mother’s milk’ but far too young to be considered ‘of age’. How unusual, youngsters her age were hardly ever seen alone in Aeon, much less in an area such as the Winsome Grove. ’Could be worse, could be the volcano…’
For a few minutes, I followed the youngster, hiding in the shadows as I watched to see if she really was alone. When I got the opportunity, visions of her short past flicked through my head. She was absolutely alone…She was one of the ‘Rifted’, but she was not ‘touched’ it seemed. No, there was nothing magical about her it seemed. ’Poor thing will be eaten alive in a place like this…’ My heart warmed slightly, my protective nature coming out with a passion as I realized she did not have a normal foal hood. She had an intense young life, and frankly, one that would bore the ever living hell out of me. It’s no wonder she ran through the Rift…
Finally, I stepped out of the shadows, trying my best to not come off as a stalker and frighten the young lady. “You seem lost, little one.” I broke the silence to announce my presence, and immediately I wondered just how she would react to me. I had a panic attack when I realized I was purple and had wings after I had my memories of my past life return, I could only imagine how she would react to seeing a strange colored, Pegasus with spiraled horn for the first time. My tone was soft and friendly enough, and I tried to keep a neutral, non-threatening pose. As awkward as that was…I stopped at a distance from her, not wanting to scare her off and giving her enough space so she wouldn’t feel cornered.

"speech!" thoughts!
Whilst I was resting beneath one of the massive trees decorated with jade-colored vines and a thick, pale trunk, I heard a slight rustling in the brush on the other side of the small clearing. I tried to gather the scent of the newcomer, but I realized with frustration that I was indeed upwind of what could possibly be a predator. My audits flicked back in curiosity, however I held my place as I waited for whatever it was lurking in the shadows to show itself. Everything seemed to roll in slow motion, and it seemed like forever before a mare strutted from the darker corners with some sense of belonging to the forest. Perhaps she is a resident of this place? Was this her land? I was prepared to apologize and give her a lady-like bow as I should, but I was shocked when I finally began to realize her appearance.
While she wasn't hideous, I didn't quite know if she was pretty, merely because I had never seen anything else like her. She seemed to be a roan, but dear heavens, what kind of roan was purple? And not to mention her lovely curves, but they were hardly visible to me due to the fact that she had two massive black wings attached to her withers! They looked soft and downy, and I had a sudden urge to run and bury my face in them, to be comforted by their texture, but I suppressed the desire and closed my slightly ajar jaw. Oh, I was being so rude! The lady couldn't help her appearance, and who knows, she may have even been proud of her unusual exterior. All I knew is that I certainly had no clue what to even say to this young-looking mare, nevertheless what to do. My lightly fuzzed ears slowly returned to their upward stance, eager to see what she had to say. Finally, she began to speak, and I listened carefully, drawn by the way she spoke and the tone in her voice.
|
“You seem lost, little one.”
She seemed almost... worried about me. How peculiar! I had never seen another mare worried about one that didn't belong to her before, and this interested me greatly. I wanted to know why she felt the need to think of me as dependent on a mother. And no, I do not think this in anger, purely in curiosity. I smiled politely and gave her a lady-like bow, graceful and well rehearsed, before replying in a velvety tone, voice mature despite my age.
"I'm not lost, simply wandering is all. Please, excuse my lack of manners, I didn't mean to gape at you, it's just not every day that I see a mare like you. Oh my, where did my manners go? My name is Gemma, miss. Gemma Doyle."I gave her a courteous dip of the head to acknowledge the end of my speech and waited patiently for her reply. I was so very curious to learn more about this deep purple mare with the spiraling horn and massive wings.

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
A single brow rose at her response, the edges of my lips tugging into a surprised yet amused smirk. She spoke as though she was my equal in age, not young enough to be my granddaughter. (Good heavens, let’s never speak of that aspect of my age again!) While she tried to come off as though she had been here for ages and was merely exploring, her age and naivety betrayed her when she mentioned that it was not every day that she saw a mare like me. While I already knew that from the readings of her past, that alone was something she would not be quite ready to comprehend if my appearance alone surprised her. The smirk shifted into a sincere smile, and a chuckle escaped my lips as I returned her bow with a low dip of my own muzzle. “I am surprised, not many equines have the respect that you do, much less those your age. My name is Beautiful Disaster, many just call me Disaster.”
I couldn’t help but interrogate her slightly with my next comment, not meaning it in any way to mock her or put her down, but merely to show that I had caught on and that she still had some learning to do. Impressive as her knowledge was, it was evident that age and experience would prove her to be an extremely intelligent young lady one day. Not that she wasn’t already. “You are quite lost then, if I am the first of my kind that you have seen. You’re a long way from where you’ve come from, child. There are many more like me here, far beyond what the mind can imagine. Do you know where you are?” I asked, knowing very well that she didn’t but I waited for an answer anyways so that she could be able to admit it. “This is Aeon, more specifically…The Winsome Grove. The grove is a freeland, but not the safest of them. You’re lucky a predator hasn’t found you…”
While she was no doubt thinking of a puma or possibly a wolf, I was more concerned about the larger beasts that hunted these grounds. My auds flicked back nervously to listen around me, grateful that it was silent, as the last time I was here I had to fly away from the grasp of a T-Rex’s jaws. Today did not seem like the kind of day to run into a dangerous, prehistoric beast though, and I did not want to scar the girl with such things just yet. “I, myself, am the sole Chief of a clan in Aeon. The Loxacin Clan.”

"speech!" thoughts!
I watched as the mare leered at me, the muscles above her eyes twitching upwards. She seemed to think for a moment, perhaps assessing my situation, before her smile turned honest, accompanied by a lighthearted chuckle, a bow of her own, and a reply.
“I am surprised, not many equines have the respect that you do, much less those your age. My name is Beautiful Disaster, many just call me Disaster.”
I gave her yet another easy, polite smile before replying. "My parents are to blame, I'm afraid. I was raised in... different environments than most, I suppose." I blinked and listened as she said her name, and oh my, what a different name it was! It was very appealing, and it was fitting for her own etiquette. "How d'you do, Miss Beautiful Disaster?" I asked, the words rolling comfortably off my tongue, tinged with my Scottish accent. But almost as soon as I had made a formal greeting, she began to address my own situation once more. I internally winced at myself as she spoke, listening with ease.
“You are quite lost then, if I am the first of my kind that you have seen. You’re a long way from where you’ve come from, child. There are many more like me here, far beyond what the mind can imagine. Do you know where you are?”
When she asked my whereabouts, I could only shake my head in the slightest manner and answer with a meek reply. "No m'aim, I don't believe I do." It was embarrassing to admit, but I knew that she knew anyways, so what was the point in pretending?
“This is Aeon, more specifically…The Winsome Grove. The grove is a freeland, but not the safest of them. You’re lucky a predator hasn’t found you…”
|
I nodded, now understanding her earlier concern. The words sank in, and I was nearly speechless. Aeon? What a name for a place such as this. So, was there more to this Aeon than just rainforest and a rainbow attached to the ground? And if so, what predators could possibly be a resident of this place? I had had my fair share of wolves and big cats, and so I didn't think the predators was a vast concern at a time like this. I had suddenly become eager to explore, but I kept my manners in check and waited politely, thinking of an answer.
"So, this.. Aeon, m'aim, is there any more lands besides the Winsome Grove? I've only just arrived, and besides a large rainbow shooting from the dirt and this Grove, I've not seen a thing. However, it seems I'm here now, so I may as well become accustomed to the foliage and civilians. Do you perhaps know where there are any residents? I would appreciate becoming acquainted with a few, perhaps finding a place to stay for the night." She gave me a reply worth listening to.
“I, myself, am the sole Chief of a clan in Aeon. The Loxacin Clan.”
Well how about that?

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
It seemed she was starting to understand that she was much further from home than she had first assumed, and her comment about a large rainbow from the dirt only verified that she was pulled in through the Rift. I nodded as she asked if there were more lands aside from where we stood, and again when she asked about residents. Understandably she was concerned about finding a place to stay for the night, and it certainly wouldn’t do to leave her wandering the Grove on her own. My auds flicked back for a moment as I studied her with interest, pondering over whether or not it would be an intelligent move to extend an invitation to her. What would the clan think? What would the other clans think? Well, if anything…she didn’t have to be a permanent addition to the herd. And it was quite possible that her intelligence could be of use to Loxacin some day.
“Tell you what. I typically do not let others into my clan on a whim, but I will make an exception for you. If you so chose, you may follow me to Loxacin and I can show you more of Aeon and teach you more about this new world.” A smirk came across my muzzle, lighthearted chuckle escaping as I remembered the ‘lessons’ I saw from her past. “Don’t worry though, it will not be like the schooling you’ve been put through in the past. However…You will have to prove yourself useful to the clan, should you decide to stay permanently…” My voice trailed off as my thoughts wandered in an attempt to figure out some way she could pull her weight around in the clan. It was only but a moment before an idea sparked in my mind, I could use her as a recruiter. Of course, only after she learned a little bit more after Aeon.
And I would be sure to make her teachings enjoyable, rather than a strict ‘do as I say’ ordeal. No, she would learn about magic, Aeonians, our mythical and prehistoric predators, and much more. Part of me wondered if she would even believe half of it to be real. “Well, what do you say?”
