Coraline
My Words. My voices.
Pristine nostrils flare. The scent of the volcano was heavy though the mare had tried her best to stay far from it. She despised the heat that it gave off. It melted the ice in her veins, warmed her beloved cold. The ash from the fire shall burn on your pelt. Sweet fire will envelope you. Death comes for us all. The mare tosses her head at the voices strange song. Death would not come for her. Even the heat that she so hated would not finish her. No she was too great of a stead to go out in such a monotone way. She would go one day, she knew this. But it would be in a bloody battle against a worthy opponent, not from some simple type of weather. But that day was not today. Unlike most days the mare was not out on the hunt, she was not looking for a new play toy. Her mind was unusually clear. She knew what she wanted and she was going straight for it.
Coraline had heard tale of the leader of the Loxacin clan. A strong mare that ruled on her own, no pathetic stallion at her side. This caused some sort of respect towards this unknown mare, whose name was known to be Beautiful Disaster, from Coraline. She held power, all by herself. That was one thing that Coraline loved, that she thirsted for even more than the meat and blood that she so craved. Power. And so Coraline was on a journey to meet this unknown mare. Hopeful to find her, learn some of her ways. Possibly she would join this herd, being ruled by someone as powerful as this mare was rumored to be couldn't be so bad. No one can rule us! We are unbreakable, unbeatable! We shall devour anything in our path to power, none shall pass us. Coraline shook her masked face. These voices did not understand. In order to get power you must know power. That was her plan. Would she befriend this leader? More like an accomplish, someone to live with and learn from. The mare doubted that friendship would spout from this, but if the God's willed it to happen then Coraline would not be apposed to it.
But she was getting ahead of herself. Coraline had not even met the mare. And so she traveled on through the open valley, the way that the mare deemed easiest to get to the clan's territory. Coraline had heard many sayings of how the Chief disliked trespassers, so the mare took careful measures to be sure not to cross the border into the lands. She stopped right before it, her hooves only centimeters away, but not touching. Coraline lifted her elegant head, looking for any sign of life, but none graced her ice cold gaze. So she would have to resort to calling for the leader. A loud whinny rumbled from the mare's barrel. Surely it would reach the Chief. It was not challenging in nature, Coraline made sure to make that clear. It was just calling attention to herself, asking for a meeting with the chief. Once the call was made Coraline set about waiting, her eyes continuously scanning the horizon to the answer of her call. ~Gorgeous Nightmare~

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
Rumors of the change of power for Loxacin had spread much more quickly than I had anticipated. It seemed some equines already knew who I was or had at least heard of me. And while that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, I knew that my name in other’s mouths could quickly spread untrue gossip with too much ‘he said, she said.’ I found myself taking to the skies much more frequently now, using the flight time as a chance to survey my territory for intruders as well as an opportunity to have some time to just think things over.
My thoughts were still plagued by Sephiroth and our last meeting, and stupidly I was beginning to obsess over ways to make him know the truth. There had to be a way to prove that my visions of our past lives were not merely figments of my imagination or remarkably vivid dreams. The only question was, how? I gave a quick shake of my head to try and distract myself enough to think about something else, anything else. My gaze dropped to the distant earth, the wind playing with my wavy tresses as I shifted my weight just enough to begin circling back. A sense of pride came over me as I surveyed my lands, Loxacin truly was an impressive sight from these heights. For the most part, they were surprisingly quiet and had a diverse variety of landscaping. The peaceful quiet was short lived however, an unfamiliar call from the borders of my land breaking the silence.
Immediately I changed course towards the call, curious to meet the stranger who was wise enough to not trespass before calling for me. A distant figure began to take shape as I flew closer, taking on the form of a vixen. Massive, ebony wings tucked close to my barrel in my descent, rushing to the earth before spreading my wings to their full span and catching onto the air like a parachute. I was able to land quickly and gracefully, and as my pearly hooves touched the ground with surprising delicateness, I was finally close enough to get a better look at the mare. Instinctively I raised my crown, hazel eyes narrowing on her slightly. She was quite an attractive little thing, anyone could see that, however she would need a great deal more than pretty looks to get past me. After all, I was no Azazel…
Quickly I read flashes of the vixen’s past, quietly watching the visions play in my mind as I tried to make sense of them. With only flashes that were over in seconds, it was hard to make much sense, but I was easily able to tell that there was something not quite right with her. I just could not yet pinpoint it, I would have to take more time to learn about her. “Welcome, my dear. It’s refreshing to see someone show some respect to a clan and it’s Chief. I am Beautiful Disaster, what brings you to Loxacin’s borders?” My tone was welcoming, hoever an undeniable cautiousness lingered in my voice. Warily I watched to see what her next move would be, wondering if she would be intelligent and respectful enough to notice that I had not yet given her permission to cross into the lands. This was merely part one of her ‘trial’ to impress me.

Coraline
My Words. My thoughts. My voices.
Coraline could hear the sound of wings beating into the air and so her ice eyes slowly lifted upwards. There in the sky, soaring right towards her was the leader of the clan. Coraline's head shakes itself violently with excitement, her legs bouncing around, though she was careful not to cross the herd's borders. She did not want to anger the chief. You are making a fool of yourself. At the urging of the voices the mare settles herself down, her limbs becoming stock still, her head held high though lowered slightly in a respectful manner. Coraline was not used to this, acting as a lower member than anyone. She always believed herself to be better than anyone. But now she knew that she had to push those beliefs away. She could not be rude to this mare. She was a leader of a whole clan, she had power. Which was something that Coraline desperately wanted. So, she had to be respectful. She had to earn the liking of this mare. So that she would accept her into the herd, teach her the ways of gaining power. That was all she craved. Well, except for blood. Power and blood, it was all she truly wanted.
As the chief landed and made her way to Coraline words began to pour from her lips. She said hello, then stated that it was good to see someone show respect to a clan and chief. Point one. Good, she was doing well at this. At least the chief knew that Coraline meant respect towards her. She hadn't messed it up yet. A slight smile lifted Coraline's lips, her head dipping as a bow when the chief proclaimed her name as Beautiful Disaster. Still Coraline was sure not to cross the border; the chief had not accepted her in. This made Coraline slightly agitated, but she did not show it on her face. She stayed cool and collected. This would take time. But her plan would work. She was doing so well. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Chief Beautiful Disaster. My name is Coraline." Another slight bow came from the mare as she introduced herself.
Now it was time to answer the chief’s question, what brought her here? She could not go out and tell all of the truth, which would most likely spook the leader. "I have heard stories told of the strong hand of the Loxain clan. It is not very often when one hears of a strong mare as a leader, who does not have some pitiful stallion to help her lead. That is why I am here. I wanted to meet the strong mare who did not need any stallion, or any other equine be it mare of stallion in fact, to help her lead a powerful land." Coraline's head nods as she speaks. This was the truth. Coraline was very interested to meet a mare who did not need the help of any other equine to rule one of the most powerful clans. The mare desperately wanted to meet one of the few mares who could gain her respect. ~Gorgeous Nightmare~

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
I dipped my muzzle respectfully as Coraline introduced herself, it was a simple yet pretty and unique name. The blue roan vixen was continuing to earn points as she stayed on her side of the border, and I was beginning to have high hopes for the young vixen. While she kept a stoic expression on her muzzle, I could sense her agitation at having to stay put, yet she did a remarkable job at hiding it. If it were not for my Psionics capabilities, I never would have known. That was quite impressive for one who loved to read body language like myself, and was quite skilled at it no less.
However, that was as far as hopes went for her as she answered my question. Slowly, a single brow rose as she droned on about how she wanted to meet the strong leader of Loxacin, and a mare at that. By no means was I impressed by her answer, and I did not bother trying to hide it from her. “Indeed…” It was a sad excuse of brown nosing, and while she may have been trying to show that she was genuinely interested in meeting a strong and powerful female leader, I saw it as kissing ass. Any remote trace of pleasant surprise was completely washed away from my façade now, replaced with a sickeningly sweet smile. My eyes never left her, conveying everything I thought about her response without actually saying anything. Whether she saw that as ‘nice try’, ‘wrong answer’ or even ‘try again’ was completely up to her. After all, I knew damn well that I was not the only powerful female leader in Aeon. Hell, most of the lands were lead by vixens. Grimoire Heart was the only other I had met personally, however I was quite impressed when she had challenged me and put up one hell of a fight.
“Well, isn’t it your lucky day then? You’ve gotten your wish and have met me. Now, have a lovely afternoon, my dear.” With that, I turned around and faced away from her, towards the utmost center of my land. How about this for an interesting trial? Not allowed to enter the lands, yet forced to try and give it another try if she really wanted access, all the while the Chief was walking away from you. I knew damn well that she was here for more than just the chance to meet me, no one just waltz up to a land to say ‘I’ve heard so much about you, I finally get to meet you’ and just leave it at that. But she had some major backpedaling to do if she wanted to stand a chance now. Ass-kissing may have worked for some leaders, but I saw it as pathetic. Any leader that fell for it was being made a fool of, for it was crossing the thin line of respect and nearly into mockery. It showed a hidden agenda like no other, and when trust was as difficult to earn as mine was…Well, it wasn’t the wisest decision.

Coraline
My Words. My thoughts. My voices. As Coraline's words fell from her lips she could see that the mare was not impressed. Blue ears gently flip sideways, wondering what on earth was the problem with the leader. Coraline was only speaking truth, well. Part of the truth. Was that what was pissing her off? Could the mare tell that Coraline was not speaking the truth? The mare had heard of beasts that could read minds of other equines. Maybe the leader was one of those. But could that be? The mare had made no signs that she knew of Coraline's blood lust, and any other would at least act a bit put off because of it. Coraline's head shook violently. She did not like this. First of all she was having to act well, act respectful. She was also having to speak, when she was so used to just killing. Next this leader was making the speaking so confusing. A low, barely audible snarl ripped past the mare's lips. This was not how this was supposed to go. Well, it obviously could not get any worse. So, she might as well tell all of the truth. "I was not speaking wrong when I said that I was respectful of your power. I am. I crave power and just want to be close to it, to learn from it and hopefully get some for myself." Her words were as cold as the ice that flowed through her veins now, showing that she was no more wanting to impress.
This whole conversation was wearing on her nerves and the fact that the chief's words were laced with sarcasm slowly broke them. She stated that Coraline had met her, then said good day, her form turning from Coraline and beginning to walk away. Her back is turned. You could just kill her. Coraline's head shook wildly. She couldn't kill the chief. She didn't want that. She wanted to join the herd, not rule it. Maybe some day the mare would have a land of her own, but that would not be now. Still, the equine was furious. Nape stretches out, ears laid flat back and mixing in with her thick mane. A deep, predatorial, snarl erupted from the mare's lips with it a thick gust of frost, her sharp and blood stained fangs showing. She did not follow the mare. She knew this must be some sort of test. As the mare's anger rose the air just around her began to grow cold with the anger in her blood. "I suppose I was wrong about you. A leader is only as strong as her members. And if I am correct, you have very few of those. So, your strength must be faltering. You must also be a fool for walking away from a strong equine who wishes to be a member." Body shakes with agitation, front dagger like hoof cutting into the ground in front of her. The mare's words were sharp and heated, showing her anger. Head shakes violently. A wild line of giggles rolling from her lips. "But go ahead, prove me wrong again. Show me that you are the mare that so many have spoken of. Or let me leave. It's your choice, dear." Ice eyes glare at the mare's back, waiting to see what this chief would do. Sure the mare would be sad to have her respect turned down if the chief chose to leave, but she could just move on to another clan. This mare was not the only strong leader. Coraline knew that. She could move on easily. But she did not want to leave, she wanted to join this herd. It had the reputation she wanted. But it was up to the leader. ~Gorgeous Nightmare~

WARNING: Swearing
THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
’Aww, I cracked the fragile temper of the petty little vixen. Tsk tsk, shame on me…’ Even my thoughts reeked of sarcasm, and had any other mind reader been around they would have been fighting back laughter through tightly pursed lips at the interesting show before them. However there was not an ounce of humor displayed on my face. Oh no, this young mare took a wrong step in her path that was supposed to lead her back to my good side. I stopped in my tracks as she called after me, auds flicking back in her direction were the only sign that I was indeed paying attention to what she had to say. True, she may have been honest when she said she respected my power, as she should. Yet the most honest thing that I heard out of her mouth was her desire to have power for herself eventually. My crown raised while my chin tucked close to my chest while I listened to the threatening snarl from behind me. The sound did not approach, she remained on the borderline. But there was a strange sound to her snarl, something added to it. As I was turned away, I could not see what kind of magic it was, but magic I could sense.
A chill began to cool my rump, and for a moment I was about to turn around with a pleased smile to see that she was displaying an act of power. At least, that was until she insulted me. Faltering strength? A fool? A ‘strong’ equine? ’I could snap you in two.’I thought to myself as my gaze narrowed darkly, hazel optics burning with disrespected anger as I sharply turned to look over my shoulder at her. My own lips curled back into a devilish snarl, auds pinning into my spiraled mane as I returned her threatening rumble. “How dare you, you insolent little bitch.” As I spoke, the hostility was so thick in the air that one could feel the pressure in their chest. Slowly I turned around to face her, with every step several rocks of hardened lava of varying sizes rose around me. By the time I faced her head on, they hovered above my own height, visibly vibrating with my own tension as I fought to hold them back from hurling them at her in a fit of rage.
Instead, I kept them poised and ready for any attack she may have, a constant warning as I spat venomous words at her. “The lack of members is from the pathetic excuse of a chief that was my predecessor. I assure you, I will change that. And as for your so called strength?” From beneath my forelock I stared at her with a darkened gaze, the edges of my lips curled back into a smirk. “You think you’re the only pretty little thing that’s ever spilled another’s blood before, just for the sake of doing it? You think you’re the first to crave power? That, honey, does not make you strong. Those little voices in your head might tell you what to do…And I’ll give you credit where it’s due, that you fight them off. But they don’t make you strong.” Teeth were bared dangerously as I stepped as close to the edge of the border as I could now, wings outstretching as I stood inches before her. “Watch your damn words around me, they may end up being your last if you chose wrong. I do not deny access to those worthy of joining Loxacin. It takes a lot more than a pretty face and fanciful speeches.” It was true, actions spoke much louder to a mare like myself. And this mare was placing herself on thin ice. I was vaguely aware of the drop in temperature around her, noting that her magical capabilities must have involved some form of ice.
Heavy, feathered hooves gave a final stomp in the earth as all the floating objects flipped in the air so their sharpest edges could point towards the vixen should she try anything against me. “Do you really think you’re worthy? Then fucking prove it.” The words were hissed bitterly, threatening her and challenging her at the same time. Go on princess, find your power, see if you want to push your luck. You wanted this game, time to play it.

Coraline
My Words. My voices. Coraline could hear the sarcasm laced in the leader's words, but she chose to ignore it, ice blue eyes rolling silently. This game should be fun! Coraline chuckled lightly at the sarcasm, if she was trying to anger her anymore it would not work. The mare had reached her limit. The limit where she now believed everything to be funny. It was all a joke now, all a game. If she won the game she could join the herd. If not? Well then she could just leave and find a new herd. Maybe someday she could come back here. Show this fool what a mistake she had made in crossing her. But that would all be up to the leader. She could choose to keep Coraline here, or she could choose to have a strong opponent somewhere in the future. The mare did not mind. Oh no, either would be just as fun as the other
As the chief was obviously growing angry her head sharply turned to look at Coraline, which caused the mare's lips to turn up in a sharp smirk. "Ah, there we go." A sharp line of laughter bubbled up from the mare's lips as she saw the obvious anger in the chief's eyes. The mare spoke out angrily, asking how dare she, turning once more to face Coraline. As the mare walked closer rocks of lava began to fly into the air. Ah, so she was acting out. The mare once more rolled her eyes. The mare then once more began to speak out of anger. Saying that the lack of members was due to the previous rulers. Coraline gently scoffed at those words. "Do not blame your failures on the past." Her words were sharp and hostile, though they seemed slightly amused. This was all a game to her. The chief then continued to speak. Asking if Coraline thought she was the only pretty mare to ever spill blood, the only equine to crave power, saying something then about her voices in her mind. Coraline gently scoffs at all those words. She wanted to act like she knew everything? She didn't. "Awh, you think I'm pretty?" Her words were cooed out with a thick lace of sarcasm. "Oh no. You know about my voices. You must know everything!" Her voice held mock fear. A laughter bubbling from her lips. "But if you did, wouldn't it make sense that you knew that the voices were not the things that made me strong? Ah, yes it would." A mad roll of giggles fall from the mare. "My voices are not what give me strength, neither is my beauty, or my craving for power. Oh no, it is quite another craving." Ice eyes squint slightly, starring down the chief. "My craving for the flesh of others is the thing that makes me strong. It has taught me how to hunt my own kind. How to take down prey that few would hope to be able to handle. My lusting for blood has helped me learn the truths of life that few learn. It has helped me grow stronger with the teachings and blood of many other equines who have fallen under my hooves. I kill for fun? Oh no, I kill to live. And that has provided me with skills that few hold." Coraline's words were spoken slowly, getting out her message. Ones who did not hunt their own kind did not hold the strengths that Coraline held.
The chief turned the sharp edges of the rocks towards Coraline, stating that she would have to prove that she was worthy of joining the herd. But Coraline was not a fool. She knew that this mare’s magic had to be stronger than Coraline’s. The mare had only been in this land for a short time, not long enough to truly control her powers. So, she could not take on this mare with magic. Coraline squinted her eyes once more. ”I am no fool, I know that you are stronger than me in magic. So, I will not attack you.” Coraline’s eyes gently roll. If she had to revert to magic in a fight then that meant that she must not be that strong in actual combat. But Coraline would not speak that out loud, she did not want those sharp points coming towards her. Coraline took a deep breath in, allowing the slow breath to gently calm her nerves. No need to get herself into a mess where she got hurt. It always seemed as if she set out on a good quest and ended up getting angry. Coraline gently laughed at herself. Then her icy eyes stared down the mare, brows slightly rising, daring her to make a move towards an equine that was not attacking. ~Gorgeous Nightmare~

THOUGHTS: 52534b SPEECH: 855d91
What a useless joke. A waste of my damn time this mare was, so self-empowered that she seriously thought she was stronger than me aside from the skills of magic? What a sad excuse of a being. I had seen equines like her before, they were a dime a dozen nowadays, and even in the days of my past life. Her laughter was infuriating, the rolls of her eyes making me want to feel my teeth sinking into the soft spot on her neck just below her chin and block off her damned jugular vein. Oh she certainly knew how to push buttons, every single right one. And that was far to be something to be proud of when seeking a home. Blame my failures on the past? The damned bitch knew nothing, these were not my failures. They were Azazel’s, and I was going to be sure to rectify them in time.
Again, the mare continued her condescending attitude like a yearling picking a fight with another yearling ‘stealing’ his crush away. Grow the hell up, damn scum. “Here’s a little newsflash, your craving for blood does not impress me, nor does it strike fear into me if that’s what you think. I don’t give two shits about whether you crave flesh, blood, or whatever the hell else you ‘crave’. It’s not as rare as you think, sweetheart.” That was the calmest way I could possibly respond to the mare without letting her in on personal lines that she really had no damned business in knowing. She thought herself as so special, so incredibly talented at her skills that ‘few’ hold, yet I had seen a number of times in this life and the last.
A predator is how she saw herself, a fierce mountain lion or wolf that should be feared in the night. More like a rabid coyote that needed to be put out of its miserable life. What a damn, ignorant, arrogant fool this bitch was. Had she only known just who she was dealing with, just how powerful I truly was. My magic did not make me powerful, it just gave me the upper hand, and only a fool would not use it to their advantage. After all, I won the challenge against one of the most powerful magical beings I had known in Aeon, Grimoire Heart. Poisoned and flightless, I beat the mystical mare that had extensive training, as well as bulletproof capabilities. All the while I did not yet possess my Psionics magic.
Coraline was not the only huntress either, although in my past I had never killed to sustain nourishment or survive. Not that I didn’t relish in my kills, I simply just preferred a more…vegetarian meal myself. It was my past mates that always had the cannibalistic tendencies. Omen, Vladimir Dracula…Did she truly think she was so irreplaceable? Finally, a smirk spread across my muzzle at her last sarcastic response and roll of her eyes. As much as I wanted to teach her a lesson that she would surely never forget, I restrained myself. This mare knew nothing, and was far more ignorant and cocky than I had first assumed. It was wise of her to not attack, and I would not be the first the shed blood unless physically provoked.
Every stone dropped to the earth, a few shattering into crumbles and others bouncing around. However I was incredibly tempted to knock some sense into her by smacking her on her head with one of the stones. It was obvious that Coraline thought she was damn cute, playing her game and waiting to see what kind of bait I would take. Instead, I would not take any of it. Rather than listen to rumors, she clearly should have learned a little more about her opponent first before starting bullshit. Rolling my own eyes, I turned away from her. I didn’t give a damn who she thought she was, how powerful she thought she was, how skilled she thought she was. I was confident enough to turn my back to her once, and if anything I was more than confident to turn my back to her now. Let the bitch try and attack me if she wanted too, I welcomed the opportunity to bury her into the earth. Without magic, I could easily kill her if she chose to make a move behind my back. “Step foot into Loxacin, and I will have you killed. You will never gain access to my clan with that attitude.” ’You worthless little shit.’ My thoughts continued what I did not want to be bothered to say aloud.
What a shame, she originally held so much potential. And while I did need members in Loxacin, I was far from desperate enough to accept someone graciously as though she had done me a favor after her little display. It was a pity, she even had magic that could have been used perfectly once trained. Coraline would never last in the Loxacin territory, especially now that she would never earn my trust or respect. On top of it, I knew she wouldn’t last long in the other clans either with her attitude. Certain clans didn’t really care for the ‘crazy’ ones…’I’ll have to let Grimm know about this.’ I made the mental reminder to have a little talk with the Chief of Selisona, warning her about the nutcase that may try and worm her way into the clan. Grimm was no fool, and with our recent alliance…Well, I would highly doubt that the blue roan unicorn would find a home there either. As for Thalmic and Gascti, I was not on the greatest terms with them personally. So, I wouldn’t give two shits if she went wither either one of them. Their clans never really stood out to begin with. I hadn’t heard much about Gascti in recent terms, and Thalmic accepted just about anyone…Perhaps the filly-like mare would find a home there, if the clan could stand her presence long enough.
I would have to do my best to avoid listening to anything else she possibly had to say or laugh at as I walked away, my muscles tensed with agitation and my auds still firmly pinned into my tresses. My feathers hadn't been this ruffled since I tried to convince Sephiroth of my visions, and my long tail lashed back and forth on my rump like a sharp whip, reminding myself not to turn around and sink my teeth into her.
